History
Westmount Public Library is
proud to have a Friends of the Library group.
The non-profit group was formed
in February 2000.
The members are volunteers who offer to contribute their time, skills,
experience and energy to the Library. Their purpose is to stimulate interest
in the Library's resources and facilities and to raise funds to improve
the Library's collections and services. They may give as little or as
much time as they want to the Friends organization. They may sit on the
Board, or volunteer for one of the activities or their support may be
their membership fees alone.
As
a Friend you will:
- Receive the Friends newsletter
- Receive notice of special events
- Exercise voting privileges and have a voice in Friends'
activities and plans
- Learn about opportunities to volunteer
Becoming a Friend of the Library:

Information
on other Friends Groups
Libraries in all regions of
Canada have instituted Friends of the Library groups in the last few years.
There is a network of over 140 Friends groups who share details of their
activities. The purpose of all Friends groups is similar: to enhance the
library's image to the public, to stimulate the use of the library's resources
and services and to support the improvement of these.
FOCAL (Friends of Canadian Libraries) is a national "grass roots"
association committed to providing leadership, motivation and support
to all Friends groups. You can check these links to see what is happening
in Friends groups in other places.
